Disney+Hotstar

After beta testing last month and changes in subscription plans earlier this week. Disney+ Hotstar has now officially gone live in India. Its entry is a bit late but was delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak across the globe. However, the Disney plus Hotstar free account started with a virtual Red Carpet event with The Lion King and The Mandalorians.

Subscription Plans and Pricing

Disney+Hotstar users can now enjoy Disney content via Disney+Hotstar subscription, either with the VIP subscription that costs Rs. 399 per year or Disney+Hotstar Premium subscription that costs Rs. 1,499 per year or you can also go monthly payment option for Rs.399.

  • Disney+ Hotstar VIP plan: Rs. 399/ year
  • Disney+ Hotstar Premium: Rs. 1,499/ year or Rs. 299/ month

Although Hotstar’s VIP subscription plan was previously priced at Rs. 365 per year, and the Premium plan used to cost Rs. 999 per year. Furthermore, if you have an existing plan, your plan will be upgraded automatically without any additional charges.

Difference Between the VIP and Premium Subscription

However, if you’re wondering about the differences between the VIP and Premium plans, let me make it clear “you won’t be getting access to Disney+ Originals shows like Togo, High School Musical, The Mandalorian, FOX, Showtime in Disney+Hotstar VIP.” Moreover, Disney+ content will only be available in dubbed languages like Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, if you don’t wish to have Disney plus Hotstar Premium subscription.

You can directly jump into Disney+ content by clicking on the dedicated Disney plus section present on the Disney+Hotstar homepage, as can bee seen in the image above.

Moreover, Disney+Hotstar will maintain its primary free ad-supported access to the user to the match highlights and some free TV shows and movies as well.

The Disney plus Hotstar was earlier supposed to launch in India on the 29th of March, along with the Indian Premier League Season 13, but unfortunately got delayed.
