Disney’s plus and Hotstar all-new in-house streaming service launched lately. Disney+ has the popular movies and TV shows including “The Mandalorian” and “Star Wars series” in the Indian market.
Although the company, Disney+ launched very late but has gained more popularity than the other online streaming platforms like Netflix, PrimeVideo, and Hotstar.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the company would launch Disney plus with the help of Hotstar in the Indian Market. Well, it is also noted that in the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with that, we get the launch date for Disney plus, i.e., March 29, 2020.
However, Disney had last year also said that it would launch its services in India in the second half of 2020.
According to TechCrunch, the companies CEO did not reveal its strategies about Disney plus in India. Moreover, he also mentions that there will be at least “two primary products” launching in India this year. CEO Bob Iger said, “one of the primary products of the streaming service will feature more premium content, and the other will have the basic content library and will launch at the time of IPL.”
CEO also mentioned that the company would rebrand its premium services of Hotstar to “Disney plus Hotstar.”
Iger also said that “the company sees this as a great opportunity to use the Hotstar platform to launch the new Disney plus services in one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.”
Well, Disney plus has proven its massive hit in the US, getting almost 10 million subscribers in just 24 hours. And the company earned over $100 million in only 60 days and gave solid competition to Netflix. According to the report, Netflix lost over a million subscribers to Disney+ in 2019.
