The top-rated messaging app ‘WhatsApp‘ for android on the play store has recently crossed five billion downloads. It has now officially become the second most downloaded non-google application.
As of now, AndroidPolice reported that this large number of downloads/installs includes pre-installed copies of the app on the Samsung and Huawei devices.
A report from Statista, WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app in the worldwide. WhatsApp has even outranked Facebook Messanger with approximately 1.6 billion monthly active users. Facebook Messanger has nearly 1.3 billion and WeChat, with 1.1 billion monthly active users worldwide in the year 2019. Moreover, it is the third most popular social network app worldwide.
WhatsApp Registers 5 Billion Downloads
A report from Google Play store claims that South Korea was the fastest-growing market for the WhatsApp. With the record-breaking increase in downloads of almost 56 percent in 2019.
Additionally, for the first time, Google has also replaced Facebook as the top publisher of mobile apps.
An Analytics firm Sensor Tower revealed Google Play store had accumulated WhatsApp registers nearly about 850 million downloads as compared to Facebook’s 800 million downloads.
When you compare overall downloads for the year 2019, Google remains behind Facebook. Google swept nearly 2.3 billion downloads; however, Facebook reached almost 3 billion downloads in the last year. As for Now, Facebook owns four out of the top five most downloaded applications worldwide. The list includes WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. However, TikTok was the world’s second most downloaded app in 2019, a company owned by ByteDance.
